BIOGRAPHY

Rush is a legendary Canadian progressive rock band formed in Toronto in 1968. For the vast majority of their existence, the band operated as a power trio consisting of bassist, keyboardist, and lead vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and primary lyricist Neil Peart. Known for their virtuosic musicianship, complex time signatures, and thought-provoking lyrical themes, Rush became one of the most successful rock bands in history.<br><br>Following a celebrated career spanning decades, the band retired from touring after their 2015 R40 Live tour and officially disbanded in 2018. The music world mourned when Neil Peart tragically passed away from brain cancer in January 2020. For years, Lee and Lifeson maintained that Rush would never perform again without their fallen bandmate, leaving fans to believe the band's touring days were permanently over.<br><br>However, in a massive and unexpected comeback, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced in late 2025 that Rush would return to the stage. Joined by new drummer Anika Nilles—who took on the daunting task of filling Peart's shoes—and keyboardist Loren Gold, the revamped lineup launched the 'Fifty Something Tour' in June 2026. Kicking off with a multi-night run at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the tour celebrates over 50 years of Rush's legacy, with expansive North American, South American, and European dates mapped out through 2027.
